How Does the Car Battery Function?
Once a standard 12-volt battery is made using the above process, the plates get submerged in sulfuric acid, and they trigger a reaction between the plates that lead to the generation of ions and lead sulfate. The ions also react with the adjoining plates to produce hydrogen and lead sulfate. The result is the production of electrons, which move around the plates to produce electricity. The electricity flows around the terminals to start the engine, headlight and radio.
The average shelf life of a battery is 3-5 years. However, it varies as it depends on several factors like driving habits, daily run, climate conditions and more. If the battery health is deteriorating, you may get a signal with delayed engine start, dim headlights, smartphone not charging at the average speed and like.
